All Photo Credits: Virginia Trudeau & Deedee Sherman Individual Division: Introductory Category (Ages 10-11) Round I Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. Female dancers do not have to perform on pointe, but it is recommended. 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003, displaying contemporary elements.
Note: Introductory Category competitors may enter an additional ballet solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. If multiple ballet solos are performed only the highest score will be considered. Preparatory Category (Ages 12-13) Round I Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003, displaying contemporary elements.
Round II Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List that was not performed in Round I. Pre–Professional Category (Ages 14 - 17)
Round I Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003 displaying contemporary elements.
Round II Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo of the competitor's choice that was not performed in Round I. (Not required to be from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire list). 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003 (Contemporary Solo from Round I may be repeated in this round).
Round III Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List that was not performed in Rounds I or II. 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List (Variation from Round I may be repeated). Professional Category (Ages 18 - 22)
Round I Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003 displaying contemporary elements.
Round II Requirements: 1 Ballet Solo of the competitor's choice that was not performed in Round I. (Not required to be from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire list). 1 Contemporary Solo choreographed after the year 2003 that was not performed in Round I.
Round III Requirements: * In this Round dancers must perform two contrasting ballet variations, in order to show their versatility. For example: Odette/Odille, or Prince Siegfried (Swan Lake)/Basil (Don Quixote). 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List that was not performed in Rounds I or II. 1 Ballet Solo from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List (Variation from Round I may be repeated). Group Division: Pas de Deux Category (Ages 14 - 22)
Round I Requirements: 1 Classical Pas de Deux from the WBC Classical Ballet Repertoire List. Note: Dancers in this Category must not exceed a 3 year age difference of his/her partner. Pas de Deux competitors who also enter WBC as individuals will be receive a discount on the entire registration fee. Ensemble Category (Ages 10 - 22) *Minimum of 3 and Maximum of 30 dancers *Limit of 3 Group Entries
Round I Requirements: 1 Group Entry -of either ballet, neo–classical, modern, character/folklore, jazz, and lyrical. Each group entry must be less than 6:00 minutes (3 - 8 dancers) or 8:00 minutes (9 - 30 dancers) in length. Note: Choreography for the Ensemble Category need not be exclusively ballet. All styles are encouraged and welcome.
